Welcome to the Island of Cebu, known for its narrow coastlines, limestone plateaus, and coastal plains, all characteristics of a typical tropical island. Cebu also has predominant rolling hills and rugged mountain ranges traversing the northern and southern lengths of the island.

Colon Street

Colon Street is a crowded street in the downtown Cebu City. It has become a center for bargain and commercial activities and one of the busiest places in Cebu confirmed by the increasing number of establishments and stalls in the sidewalks.




Sinulog Festival

The Sinulog Festival is one of the most dignified, most colorful, and most famous festivals in the Philippines. It is a ritual expressed through dance and costumes in commemoration of their conversion from paganism to Christianity.

The feast is especially dedicated in honor of Cebu’s patron, Santo Niño or the Holy Image of the Child Jesus. It is celebrated every third Sunday of January. The celebration lasts for nine days, which culminates on the Sunday.




Santo Niño de Cebu

Santo Niño de Cebú is a Roman Catholic image of the Child Jesus. For centuries, Santo Niño served as Cebu’s patron. Regarded as deity, the statuette was cloth in kingly robes, completed with precious stones and other gold ornaments including the crown.

The figurine is considered as the oldest and most revered religious relic in the Philippines. It took its sanctuary in the Basilica Minore del Santo Niño, one of the oldest churches in the country.

The Basilica of Santo Niño or Basilica Minore del Santo Niño is the oldest recorded church in Cebu. The location of the church was the exact place where the image of Santo Niño was found miraculously intact and houses the most important patron in Cebu.

Known as the oldest city in the Philippines and considered as the second most significant metropolitan centre in the Philippines, Cebu City is the capital city of the province of Cebu and the second city in the Philippines.




Cebu Shopping Guide

Cebu City has many shopping malls - the biggest being SM City Cebu, which is a four-level shopping mall with a huge department store, supermarket, movie theater and over 200 shops and restaurants.

A more upscale shopping mall is the Ayala Mall, it also has a large department store, two supermarkets and a movie theater, and it offers more restaurants and stores that appeal to tourists.

These are modern buildings with lots of western goods in addition to local stores. There are other, older and smaller malls dotted all over the city, such as Country Mall, Robinson's Mall, e-Mall, Mango Square and Cebu Parkmall. In addition to this there are many stores and places to stop. One nice place is the Colon part of the Old Downtown.
