Nalusuan Island

Nalusuan Island is one of the islands which offer best natural vacation experiences and serene repose. Boasting with flamboyant and breathtaking underwater wonders, it is designed paradisiacally for nature lovers and explorers.

Nalusuan Island is one of the 7,000 islands that comprise the Philippine archipelago, part of the Cebu, Philippines. The island is being sandwiched by Mactan Island and the Province of Bohol. Part of the Olango Island Group, Municipality of Cordova has the jurisdiction over the island.

The island was originally a sandbar which measures almost a hectare. Now, it is a man-made resort island after the construction of Nalusuan Island Resort which occupies the entire island.

The island got a very interesting name, Nalusuan. But how does the island acquired its name? Accordingly, the place was first called “Kalusuan” which means “a place of penises” when translated in Cebuano dialect. Local fishermen called it with such name because the island was once very abundant with sea cucumbers which resemble the male genitals.

Everything in the island is enthralling: the sun and the water in its magnificence. The unspoiled waters let you enjoy different water activities in maximum level like jet skiing, wave runners, scuba diving and kayaking. The powdery white sand is best for basking and tanning and playing volleyball. Experience the cool unblemished sea breeze, thing that cities don’t have.

The tranquility of the ocean and the simplicity of life it offers make you forget the pressures of life’s works and responsibilities. The experience is rustically impressive. Far from the noise of the main city and blasting dynamites, it is one of the best places to enjoy nature.

The place is best known for its Marine Sanctuary, a protected zone where marine faunas roamed and lived freely and abundantly. One commitment of Nalusuan is to protect, preserve and flourish these precious beings of the sea.

Enjoy the underwater bliss. Explore the unruffled, color-studded corals in its garden and awesome tropical fishes dancing with other marine organisms right in front of you. There is no other underwater beauty than here in the Philippines.

The one and only resort in the island, the “Nalusuan Island Resort” is a private property owned by a family of brothers. However, it is open for guests and visitors who want to experience soothing and unfussy lifestyle in a day or two.

Once in the island, many things are “ought to be done”. One may take a rest and dozed by the ocean’s lullaby or stay awake and entertain you eyes with amazing views in all directions. Or, you can taste the savory grilled fresh sea foods or take a sip of tropical fruit juices while watching the sun sets with your partner.

Nearest islands are only a boat ride away and Chocolate Hills of Bohol can be perceived from afar. During low tides, walking on sandbars is a noteworthy experience. There are no waves, only ripples.

The place is not only recommended for honeymooners or couples but the entire family or in large groups is also accommodated. Cottages are available and guesthouses rest lazily above the sea waters. Each room is overlooking the sea and has its own balcony, bathroom and bedroom. And, it is well-maintained.

Nalusuan is not plain and barren. It has trees that give shade to people who are catching for their breath after some sweaty sports. A copious ground has a mini volleyball court, a restaurant, a bar and guest services hut. Nalusuan Island is mostly visited by island hoppers at lunch, but in the nightfall, you will savor the true serenity you are expecting in the place.

Staffs are pleasant and did their jobs to make guests truly comfortable, plus their smiles are free. Every wish is their command. They can build bonfires for you at night and served breakfast at the sandbar in the morning. Seafoods are served fresh from the day’s catch and cooked according to the orders.

So, experience the kind of relaxation that has never been tried before. Pamper yourselves with all the pleasures you can find. Indulge in splendor of the sun, the sand, the breeze, the waters and under it.
